The Top 9 Artists We're Hyped About at Terminus

Posted

One week from today, Canada will feel itself lucky all over again as the second annual Terminus Festival will launch in Calgary. And what can we---or anyone---say to convince our American friends, as well as goth/industrial fans from across our own land, to come out? For a few years now we've been publishing similar lists for Kinetik, but let's face it the main reason always to come out is the artists. So without further ado let's talk about the top 9 acts we're waiting to see at Terminus. Are we excited to see Artoffact represented artists?

Do you even need to ask?

9. iVardensphere. Picking up the torch that This Morn' Omina left (though TMO may not be quite done), iVardensphere's show is a rollercoaster, involving programmed beats, insane live drums, bouncy tribal industrial, and a fun stage presence.

8. Distorted Memory. Their concert on Friday is also the release date for The Eternal Return. If anything is going to get a band pumped to pull off the show of all shows, a release date is it.

7. Dead When I Found Her. Michael Holloway released one of the best albums of 2012 with Rag Doll Blues, and he turned a lot of heads while doing it. Don't expect an amped up dancefest; DWIFH does industrial spectacularly well.

6. SMP. The rap-industrial outfit recently released their latest album Death of the Format and are in top form themselves. We want an MC 900 ft Jesus cover live.

5. Comaduster. We're not really sure what planet this guy came from but we sure as shit hope he can pull it off live. (PS: Planet Canada).

4. Unit 187. Back in the day when guitar-industrial ruled, Unit 187 came out of nowhere and showed even the big boys how it's done. We have a hunch they're going to show everyone how it's done next weekend. Don't say we didn't warn you.

3. AAIMON. Flatliner was a revelation in 2012. The sheer honesty and slow-pacedness of AAIMON's music might just be the high-light of the whole thing.

2. Haujobb. This might be the 20th time we see haujobb live. It's hard work but someone's gotta do it.

1. Legend. Seriously: LEGEND.
