With 18 fine pearls
on this CD, the black chamber orchestra of mastermind Max Testory finally
presents a definitive overview of 10 years’ work. ‘Dix Ans’ impressively
demonstrates the special position in the gothic scene that Chamber have earned
in such a short time. So here it is: their ultimate showcase of work, which
illuminates every important phase of the chamber orchestra; sometimes in
alternative, new versions. From the early beginnings of the first demo ‘Pleasure
& Pain’, when Max Testory was still a ‘choirboy’ with ASP, via the milestone
‘Ghost Stories & Fairy-Tales’, for which Asp wrote several of the songs and
on which the
musicians of
the band ASP worked on, right up to the wistful pop songs of
later albums. The collaboration between CHAMBER and the
futurepop legends VNV NATION also finally appears for the first time on
this CD. Held together by the fascinating, gloomy voice of Max
Testory, each song on this CD impressively charts the path of one of
the gothic scene’s most exceptional bands, who with their mixture of melancholy heaviness,
passionate chansons, energy-laden Irish folk songs and heart-rending acoustic folk are able
to equally delight fans of ASP, NICK CAVE or the
SWANS. Released on Trisol and available August 28th,
2009.
