Instead of playing it safe after the succès d'estime of "Elysium", repeating
their tried and tested recipe for success, EISHEILIG are presenting a courageous
fourth album in "Auf dem Weg in deine Welt", leading away from metres-high walls
of guitar sounds to more breezy tones. "Our dark phase was simply over after
'Elysium', after all we had expressed everything we wanted to say at that time,"
guitarist Till Maiwald describes the band's currently more open and optimistic
mood. "First and foremost, music should be fun and give you strength, never mind
whether it's dark or not. We want people to feel strengthened after listening to
our album. It doesn't always have to be about apocalyptic scenarios," he
explains. "Our lyrics are more personal and direct this time, whereas in the
past metaphorical lyrics about religious subjects tended to dominate. Now the
tracks are more accessible, without actually being uninspired." At the same
time, "Auf dem Weg in deine Welt" has a wider thematic range than the
self-contained, darkly menacing microcosm that was "Elysium". This new optimism
is reflected in "Dunkelste Stunde", among others, which quintessentially states
that there's always a light at the end of the tunnel. "Steht Auf" has a similar
tendency, picking up on the strange phenomenon that people like to complain and
whine a lot, but few actually do anything about the current situation – a
typically German apathy that the band tries to counteract with 70s rock guitar
riffs and a positive attitude. This fresh breeze is partly due to the arrival of
the new bassist, Markus Vogler, who came to replace founder member Niklas
Peternek in early summer 2007, forming the rhythm section together with drummer
Dominik Sapia. Markus is a real asset to the remaining band members, infecting
them with his spirit at the studio. Released on Ewave and available October
15th, 2007.
