If you take a look at the contemporary electro-scene today, without doubt
there never have been so many acts which try to compete - but in the end just
offer the same old clichés. They simply lack one important element: personality.
So if you're looking for personality, why not lend FrightDoll an ear?
"More 'Fright' than 'Doll'" is a description that fits perfectly for the young
female from Fort Lauderdale/Florida – an extraordinary artist.
She began writing music at the age of 8, expanded her musical talent to her
sound of today and does not fit into the picture of the typical female
Gothic-Doll miming behind some keyboard dummies.
With her debut-album "Reference Version", FrightDoll demonstrates that the so
called "Future Pop" is no longer a domain ruled by male musicians only.
Minimalistic electronics, enriched with subtle arrangements, floating,
impressive songs, seductive melodies and demanding beats – all this topped by
her charismatic, lascivious voice - transfer her songs into timeless treasures.
Her haunting aura can be felt in every song, either in the more experimental,
darker tracks like "Neutrino Glaze", the reflective "Gravity", or in the
up-tempo dancefloor-fillers "Automated" and "Strange".
All songs in common are FrightDoll's very personal view of life and existence,
what we perceive as reality and our understanding of experiences, the
interaction between self-conscious and modern technology.
FrightDoll describes her career as a musician as a constant learning process,
yet she has already defined her distinctive style in a very impressive way.
She possesses the needful warmness and intimacy, but also the needful distance
and artistic vision that let her music melt into an experience that demands the
listener's ear, heart, and spirit. Released on FrightDoll Records and available
August 16th, 2007.
