Back in June of 2005, Rotersand's "Welcome to Goodbye"
had already been named "Electro Album of the Year" by
Zillo Magazine, and although there were still over six months
of releases, it seems that Zillo was right: by the end of the
year, a euphoric press had heaped dozens of "10/10" and
"Album of the Month" accolades on the album, which finished
at #2 in the year-end DAC Album Charts - the top spot being
held by none other than Depeche Mode's "Playing the
Angel".
But who are Rotersand? Germany basin natives Rasc,
Krischan and Gun, all professional musicians working in
different scenes with wildly different backgrounds, came
together in 2003 to create their debut album "Truth Is Fanatic".
Originally intended almost as a side project, it quickly became
obvious that the whole was greater than the sum of the
parts, and that the musicians' varied backgrounds
complemented one another extremely well indeed. Rotersand
broke onto the electro scene with a modern, club-ready
sound and well-crafted songs, earning Sonic Seducer's
"Newcomer of the Year" award in 2003. Thanks to their
explosive live shows and the stage presence of singer Rasc,
the band quickly moved into the upper echelons of dark
electro. The 2005 follow-up LP "Welcome To Goodbye" saw
the group diversifying stylistically, drawing influences from
the pop, dance, and indie scenes into their somber lattice.
These diverse influences are even more apparent on this
new remix EP, where songs such as "Would You Buy This"
or the title track "Dare To Live" receive the club mix treatment.
The results are so infectious that only the most jaded DJ
could ignore them. Other album tracks, like "Almost Wasted"
and "Alive", have been given completely new arrangements
highlighting different aspects of the songs.
Featuring two new tracks "Drop Your Education" and "Give
It All Away", together with remixes from Soman and
Haujobb/Destroid, this EP firmly establishes Rotersand's
position in the electro pantheon. Look for "Dare To Live" in
stores just one week after the completion of Rotersand's
tour supporting Covenant! Released on Dependent and available March 6th, 2006.
