Welcome to your own private hell! With their debut release, Engel Sterben Nie, German trio Cephalgy managed to cause quite a stir in the dark electro scene. Their addictive mixture of tight electronic beats, dark but melodic songs that do not fear to breach the barrier towards harder EBM, and intense and provocative lyrics earned laurels from both critics and scene aficionados. On their second album, Finde Deinen Dämon, Cephalgy build on their strenghths and drive their style to utter perfection. The music has become more versatile: floor fillers with alternating male and female vocals quite in the style of scene toppers Blutengel stand side by side with heavy, EBM-laden electro-anthems and electro-goth-laden atmospheric tunes. On the lyrical side, however, the band has not become any tamer and invites the listener to trips into the private hell of the darkest abysses of the human soul and to acoustic horror movies that are further enforced by provocative samples.A good example is the record´s beginning that reminds painfully of the childhood angst each and every one of us has experienced at some point in our youth. But like a good horror flick, Finde Deinen Dämon penultimately draws its strength from the confrontation with the dark side by following Cephalgy on their dark journey and thereby confronting one´s own demons, one gains the ability to purge them from one´s consciousness. And this self-exorcism really is no torture at all to the contrary: one will gladly follow the path, driven by a merciless beat and an addictive bass line and drawn in by the maelstrom of dark thoughts and lyrics. It is very clear that those that enjoyed Engel Sterben Nie will love Finde Deinen Dämon ... but it is rather likely that the album is bound to excite anyone else into dark, beat-driven music as well. Never before has it been so much fun to confront one´s own dark self. There´s war going on in heaven and the angels are slaughtering one another. There is only one way: follow us and find your own demon! Released on Out Of Line and available on November 7th, 2005.
